A WORCESTERSHIRE Model Laundry was to open for business at Blackmore Mill in Birmingham Road, Bromsgrove. The firm took out a large advert in the Messenger to emphasise the fact that the premise was fortunate to be supplied by soft spring water, ideal for washing woollens. It also boasted being hygienic and having sound drains and having two acres of drying grounds. The town's medical officer, Dr Cameron Kidd, added a footnote saying he had inspected the premises and found them to be satisfactory in all respects.
THE recent growth in market gardening in the Bromsgrove area led to smallholders and allottees banding together to form a protection association. The Messenger, supporting the idea, said there was strength in unity.
THE three-acre Crab Mill Field fronting Birmingham Road opposite the Workhouse in Bromsgrove, was sold by auction at the Grand Hotel in Birmingham for £600. Presently it was let to Mr W Leadbetter for £13 per annum.
A RESIDENT reported hearing a nightingale singing while on a journey from Bradley Green to Bromsgrove via Woodgate.
THE popular Charity Cup Final between local rivals Bromsgrove Rovers Reserves and Technical Unity resulted in a draw. But the presence of the famous referee Mr Adams was an equally big draw for the crowd as the previous Saturday he had officiated at the FA Cup Final. Noted for not allowing players to take liberties, there was a total absence of fouls and bad behaviour usually associated with local clashes, the Messenger reported.
