WYTHALL are hoping to reap the benefits from the latest crop of stars at Saltley School's Asian Academy.

The Silver Street side, newly-promoted to Division Three of the Warwickshire League, have seen youngsters Kabir Ali and Kadir Ali go on to Warwickshire and Worcestershire County Cricket Clubs.

Their father Munir, a Wythall stalwart, coaches at the nearby school and sends the most promising stars to Wythall for first team experience.

And as the club prepares for life at the highest level they have played, they are welcoming the new blood.

The villagers have also signed Greek Pete Mofajos from Stevenage and hope to hand him his debut at Streetly on Saturday (1.30pm start).

Five Ways skipper Chris Jones' preparations have been hampered by a troublesome knee injury.

A long-standing cruciate ligament problem resurfaced in a friendly at the weekend when his knee gave twice and the skipper is visiting hospital this week and hands over the reins to vice captain Tony Harris on Saturday for the long trek to Offchurch.

The captain has warned against high expectations after promotion.
