REDDITCH skipper Nev Mason says his side could suffer in their opening Birmingham League match on Saturday after being left without a match at the weekend.
The Bromsgrove Road side first team were set to take on rivals Studley in a friendly but were told the Washford Fields surface was too damp and Sunday's fixture was rained off much to Mason's frustration.
Redditch open at home to a Pelsall side who finished immediately above them in last year's Division Two West table (1.30pm start) but Mason warned against any high expectations.
The town side have strengthened with the addition of Aussie Daniel Fredrick, and former players Jeff Russell, Paul West and Phil Tongue have swelled the ranks. Mason is confident against a Pelsall side who his side beat at home before recording a winning draw away last season but will be aware of their talented Indian all-rounder Assad.
