DEMAND to learn a streetwise self-defence has soared since a new martial arts centre opened in Bromsgrove.
Classes in British Free Fighting for juniors and adults have gone from once a week to four times a week since the centre launched.
More than 200 people turned out as Julie Kirkbride MP officially opened the Fighting Fit Martial Arts and Fitness Academy, in New Road, on Saturday, April 19.
Founder of the self-defence and academy director Andy Hopwood hosted a series of demonstrations at the launch, together with students of the British Free Fighting Association.
Mr Hopwood said: "The event was very successful and we were really pleased with it.
"We have only been teaching on a Tuesday night in Bromsgrove and now we have four classes a week for juniors and adults."
