A KIDDERMINSTER bus company has started operating in Redditch after stepping in to take over a popular route axed by the town's main operator.
Daytime services on route 60, through Matchborough and Winyates, had been withdrawn by First.
It would have meant that, from Monday, a number of residents would have been stranded without transport.
But Worcestershire County Council transport chiefs announced extra funding has been secured and the route will now be operated by Whittle's bus company.
The service will run every hour and two journeys will be slightly re-routed to cover Matchborough and Winyates centres.
There are just four weeks to go before more vital services, including the 61a and the 178, are due to be axed by Pete's Travel.
