DROITWICH Spa RFC retained the Jack Andrews Trophy against Worcester Wanderers in their traditional end of season match last Saturday.
The match, decided by the aggregate score of First and Second XV games, saw Spa claim victory by ten points. The Firsts drew 3-3 away while the Seconds recorded a 32-22 home success.
At Worcester, Droitwich started brightly and Ben Cottrell slotted over a penalty. Nick Godfrey and Greg Garfield worked effectively in the forwards.
The Seconds put in a fine performance, coming from behind in the last quarter.
Spa had led 15-10 early in the second half but some woeful defending let the visitors in twice. Then, a searching kick by Dean Evans was chased by Steve Duffield, who forced an error, allowing Andy Manns to dive over.
In the final minutes, a surging run by Dave Halsall saw Dean Goddard barge his way over. Evans converted.
