HOCKEY: A powerful first 15 minutes led Stourport U-15s to a comfortable 4-1 win over Eastcote from Surrey and a final place in the English Hockey Association's national competition.
Stourport now face Havant at Old Loughtonians in Chigwell, Essex, on Saturday, May 10, in the battle for the trophy.
The boys, playing at home, flew 3-0 ahead inside the first quarter-of-an-hour through open-play goals from Max Totney and Ashley Jones (two).
Marc Edwards and Ben Everitt-Li gave Eastcote problems, while Jones and Totney forced a series of short-corners which Stourport were unable to convert.
A soft goal for the Surrey side meant the half-time score gave them a glimmer of hope.
Luke Carless' defensive work ensured Eastcote star midfielder Saul Emery was pushed deeper into his own half, reducing his effectiveness.
The only goal of the second half was forced home by Edwards.
Keeper Lewis Bevan was rarely troubled as the defence gave their visitors few chances.
Andrew Cavendish, Kit Panell, Scott Nelson, James Powell, Alex Vale, William Terry and Kyle Gayne were also in the squad, coached by Peter Terry and Nick Lewis.
