BASKETBALL: A bad start failed to stop Airedale Kidderminster Cobras recording their sixth straight win with a 73-64 West Midlands Premier League success at TP Riley.
Cobras were three points down by the first break and that was extended to five by half-time in their worst 20 minutes for two months.
They did show glimpses of their quality with Mark Bonshor scoring well in the opening quarter and Matt Law enjoying a purple patch of seven points in three minutes.
Only a three-point bomb from Richard Miszkowski kept Cobras in touch into the third section of play.
Coach Terry Cash looked for an explosive start, which has been instrumental in their recent success, and Kidderminster responded.
Law bagged eight points in two minutes followed by Andy Sharp's contribution before Roy Francis and Ian Marriott ensured Cobras a five-point advantage.
Superb offence early in the fourth quarter raised the gap to 10 points and an attempted comeback was held off by Martin Usherwood's cool head and Bonshor's accuracy.
Law top scored with 23 points, followed by Marriott (16), Bonshor (10) and Francis (nine).
