TENNIS: There was a good entry for Bewdley's annual friendly tournament to mark the start of the summer season with Emma Morris and Pete Mauger taking the honours.
Morris, a previous winner of the club's mixed doubles championship, has rejoined after time away from the area.
And her quick volleying, combined with Mauger's slice and use of the drop shot, beat strong final opposition in Michele Lace and John Phillips.
The losing finalists beat Davina Burdon and Adam Lange in the semi-finals, while Morris and Mauger defeated Jan Ferguson and Jon Carter in a close tussle.
Bewdley are fielding five men's, women's and mixed teams in the County League this summer.
There is also a busy schedule of tournaments, including the annual ladies' open in June and open mixed doubles in September.
In-house events, such as a mid-summer tournament and barbecue, are in the pipeline.
