A JUDGE told a Wolverley teenager they were likely to meet again unless he mended his ways.
Darren Clifford was appearing before Judge Marten Coates at Warwick Crown Court where he admitted charges of aggravated vehicle taking and driving with no insurance and no licence.
Sentencing him to 10 months detention and banning him from driving for a year, Judge Coates said: "From what I have read about you, I would not be at all surprised if you and I do not meet again in the future.
"You are a young lad with a dreadful record, and it is up to you whether you spend your life behind bars."
The 18-year-old, of Fairfield Lane, will be released almost immediately due to the time he has already spent on remand in custody.
Prosecutor Oliver Woodhouse said in November a house in Billesley Common, Birmingham, was broken into while the occupiers were asleep upstairs, and their cars were stolen.
At about 5am officers noticed the cars and were suspicious.
Clifford, who was driving one of the vehicles, jumped out and ran off while the car was still moving. He was later arrested nearby.
Adrian Keeling, defending, said Clifford had a number of previous convictions and was on licence from an earlier sentence.
