BOSS Martin Westcott admits Chaddesley Corbett's West Midlands League future is in serious doubt unless the cash-strapped club can secure much-needed funding.

Chaddesley, who have finished sixth in Division One South, have been struggling on with a small committee and little in the way of resources.

And the villagers have been dealt a blow after being told they are likely to have to pay £40 a game next season to use their current pitch at Brintons' ground.

Westcott, whose players pay subs to turn out for Chaddesley, believes they may only be able to last one more season in the West Midlands League with their current finances.

That would mean a first-team return to the Kidderminster and District League for the club which has been running since 1905.

He said: "It's going to really test us. We will be able to go for another season but then we would be really struggling at this level.

"We need to find something like another £500 or £1,000. We have shirt sponsorship but we could do with money or businesses taking adverts in our matchday programme."

The club received just over £4,000 in March from the National Lottery grants scheme Awards for All to buy extra equipment but are still in need of more help.

Anyone interested in providing financial support can call Chaddesley chairman Dave Yardley on 01562 632956.

Westcott added: "I'm also looking for new players. Not so long ago, we were struggling at the bottom of the table so I'm relatively happy to improve the way we have done."

Young top scorer Craig Pratt, with 19 league goals to his credit, is expected to attract attention but is set to stay with Chaddesley.

Talented teenage keeper Steve Parker is hoping for a contract offer from Shrewsbury Town for next season once the current campaign is over.
