BLOCKLEY Sports are making a late bid for promotion to Herald Division One after picking up their 12th league win of the season.

Terry Santry, Derek Burrows and Darren Balhatchet all scored twice in a 6-1 defeat of promotion rivals Dog and Pheasant.

The win lifted Blockley into second place, ahead of inactive Campden Town and six points clear of Saturday's victims.

However, fortunes were reversed on Tuesday night when the Dog bit back to record a 4-0 win over the Sports Club.

Two players also bagged braces in the Cutler Division Three's other game that saw Shipston and Henley Forest share eight goals.

Tom Brice hit two for Excelsior, while John Perry was the visitors' two goal star.

The Henley lads missed out on knockout success on Tuesday when losing 5-0 to section leaders Cross Keys.

There were also eight goals when FISSC visited Railway, where a hat-trick from Marco Pace and two for Rich Foreman lifted the visitors into second place in the Journal Premier Division.

An own goal helped leaders Campden see off Bidford's brave challenge, while goals from Keith Beasley and Luke Poole were enough as Needle-makers overcame Shipston.

Needlemakers and Bidford both picked a point after the midweek draw.

Ally Eden struck twice as Tysoe moved up to third in the first division at Quinton, while next to bottom Badsey United kept their hopes of beating the drop alive with a 3-2 defeat of Claverdon.

However, United came unst-uck on Tuesday when Sports-mans continued their domin- ation of the section with a 3-0 triumph.
