MALVERN Town suffered a controversial last-gasp defeat at Lye Town, in the West Midlands League Premier Division last night.
With just 19 seconds left on the clock, Lye scored a disputed winner after the linesman had raised then lowered his flag for an offside decision.
Town spurned a number of chances to kill off the game with Lee Goodman and Des Cox both denied by fine saves while Dave Cannon also went close.
Rik Halion eventually put Malvern in front after 30 minutes, with an excellent, curling, left foot shot from the edge of the box.
Lye equalised in the 53rd minute but Town managed to exert themselves once more, and Goodman, Cox and Cannon again threatened the Lye goal, while Nathan Owen spurned a good opportunity before the home side stole the points.
Ledbury Town slumped to a 4-1 defeat at Ettingshall in the West Midlands Premier Division last night.
Redditch United's hopes of a top six finish in the Dr Martens Western Division suffered a blow last night when they went down 3-1 at mid-table Taunton Town.
