YOUNGSTERS from across the district had an introduction to trout fishing at the Lenches Lakes, Evesham, at an event organised by the Salmon and Trout Association.
"We had a very successful day," said Terry Beale, of Avon Green, Wyre, Pershore, the instructor in charge, a licensed coach who holds the STA National Instructors' Certificate and accreditation through child protection training.
The course was aimed at 10 to 16-year-olds and Mr Beale said 14 turned up, 13 of whom managed to catch fish, which was wonderful, and all had a trout to take home.
"They had a good introduction to trout fishing," Mr Beale said.
"We looked at fish, insects and examined the safety and legal aspects of fishing.
"Altogether it was an enjoyable day on the lakes doing some fishing."
He explained: "The idea is to introduce people, particularly youngsters, to trout fishing."
Further courses have been arranged for later in the year.
