THE efforts of a developer to marry the old with the new in Kidd-erminster has brought it a major award.
Kidderminster Civic Society has hailed the £6.5 million Green Street redevelopment by Morbaine by presenting the company with its Queen's Golden Jubilee Award. Morbaine director John Parle receives the civic society award from chairman Nick Hughes.
The society wanted to recognise a feature that had enhanced the town during the Queen's 50-year reign and an independent panel of judges chose Green Street from such diverse nominations as the Watermill pub and register office.
The Green Street project involved sensitive refurbishing of the former Victoria Carpets works to create high quality office accommodation.
The judges particularly liked the nomination because it brought back into use buildings linked to the town's carpet heritage.
