ON his day, Mighty Moss was up there with some of the best racehorses in the country and once gave the great Istabraq a run for his money at the Cheltenham Festival.
Formerly trained by David Nicholson, he was always ridden by Fred Hutsby, now, he is trained by the latter at Ettington, and is set to line up in Monday's Warwickshire Hunt meeting at Ashorne.
Mighty Moss is sure to be the star attraction at the meeting in the confined race, in which Hutsby also has previous winner Rough Tiger entered.
Hutsby completed a double at the meeting last year, winning the restricted on American Style and the confined on Star Changes, but success for Mighty Moss in this year's renewal would prove popular.
The Ettington rider-trainer also has entries in the open maiden with Boozi's Birthday and Triple Crown, the members race with Bold Tactics, Lord Love and Dunthrop winner Prate Box, and the restricted with Campden Kitty.
Hutsby has been booked for plenty of rides at the meeting, as has Jon Trice-Rolph, who won the members race on Young Lighty last year.
The Todenham rider-trainer also has several runners at the meeting.
Lismahane, Rightful Heir and Tom's Gold go in the open maiden, Bold Action in the novice riders, and Ideal de L'Ile in the restricted.
Bramley won the open maiden last year for Chipping Norton handler Fran Mariott, and this time around he lines up in the restricted, while stablemate Thor's Phantom goes in the confined.
With the open maiden being split, there are now seven races at Ashorne, where the first race starts at 4pm.
