TWO men were killed in an accident which forced the M5 to close for almost five hours and caused traffic chaos in Worcestershire yesterday.
The collision, between a white Volvo lorry and a red saloon car, was at Junction 4a northbound, near Bromsgrove, just before 11am.
The northbound motorway was closed at the junction from 10.55am until 3.45pm, causing havoc on surrounding roads - the A38 and B4091.
The victims, aged 49 and 43, were pronounced dead at the scene and taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.
Police are appealing for witnesses - and in particular the driver of a large goods vehicle close to the scene - to contact them on 0121 322 6025.
Traffic problems continued in the early hours of this morning when a second accident took place at the same spot, at 2.20am.
Only one vehicle was involved and a single casualty was treated for cuts and glass in their hands.
