WITHOUT any threat of a penalty should the injunction be disobeyed, the ballot paper for postal voters in the May 1 election stated that the name and address of the witnesses' signature should be written clearly.

Having signed in the presence of a witness who signed as such, in an effort to help, I filled in the name and address clearly in my ordinary handwriting and turned to the envelope, which has to be used. I was surprised to see that this stated that the witness must fill in their address, not clearly but printed and that if this were not done the vote would, not might, be disallowed.

Perhaps a Malvern Hills official could explain why two conflicting sets of instructions were issued and give the statutory authority for telling me that my vote will not be allowed.
