A REJUVENATED Welland earned themselves another three points taking them to three straight wins after defeating second placed and recent cup winners Lamb & Flag.
WELLAND ATHLETIC 2, LAMB & FLAG 1
It took a superb second half come back to beat Flag, who had the better of the first half chances. After three attempted clearances, Welland players allowed the ball to break free inside the six yard box and Flag took full advantage to put themselves one up with 30 minutes played.
Making up for his earlier error, Barney Coles denied Flag a second when his diving header sent the ball wide of his own goal with three Flag strikers waiting to pounce. Ten minutes later a flying save from keeper Will Eccleston kept Welland in the game.
The second half saw a fresher, flowing Welland emerge and they soon equalised when Mark Amott sprinted into the penalty area and squared the ball for Simon Craddock to make his tenth goal of the campaign. His team then found themselves under increased attack from one of the league's most devastating strike partnerships but the Welland defence of Radnor, Thomas, Coles and Furlong held out strongly influenced by the aggressive Ben Nineham.
However, Welland went in search of the winner and it came when Ed Wray's corner was flicked on by both Thomas and man of the match Coles. The ball fell kindly to Craddock who made no mistake from two yards.
Welland end their season against newly crowned champions Langland Sports at Victoria Park tomorrow (Saturday) kick off 3pm.
