ANYONE expecting a drab mid-table, end-of-season game would have been in for a pleasant surprise last Thursday with this all action match in Worcester.

KAYS 4, MALVERN RADAR 4

It certainly wasn't for the faint hearted with crunching tackles and end to end action throughout. Kays started well and raced into a 2-0 lead after half-an-hour. Radar pulled a goal back just before half time when Clive Churchill rose at the back post to bullet in Trevor Bagnall's corner.

Ten minutes into the second half and the scores were level, Lee Brookes was fouled in the area and Churchill converted the penalty. Incredibly Radar took the lead when Darren Loader scored a carbon copy of the first goal heading in at the back post, again from Bagnall's corner. Kays fought back and levelled through Dean Salisbury with a great volley from the edge of the area and they then went 4-3 up when Tom Charteris kneed the ball over the line rather fortuitously. However Radar were far from finished and they made sure the points were shared when Loader scored with yet another header from close range.

ST JOHNS 2, MALVERN RADAR 3

THE highlight of this match was a five minute first half hat-trick from Radar's Trevor Bagnall.

He opened the scoring on 18 minutes when his cross come shot flew over the stranded Kevin Ingram in the Saints goal. He added the second a minute later when he turned smartly and crashed the ball in from 10 yards.

It was soon 3-0 when he broke clear and calmly placed the ball into the corner of the stunned Ingram. It all looked very comfortable until Saints slowly fought back.

Clive Jones's speculative long range effort came back off the bar, hit keeper Phil Birch on the back and rolled into the net and when Paul Dobson knocked in a penalty with 15 mins remaining, Radar were forced to defend stoutly to hang on to the points.

The teams meet again this Sunday for Radar's last game of the season at Victoria Park.
