Why do vandals vandalise? I have every sympathy with Tony Kiesslinger (Malvern Gazette, April 25) who wants to "crackdown" on them after they damaged the bandstand in Priory Park. But is there not a better way of tackling the problem?
There is so much condemnation of misbehaviour, but what are the reasons for it?
Supposing these youths were to be encouraged to channel their energy into helping the council look at the whole problem of areas/activities that would be suitable for them to use and maybe help construct them and then take some pride in them.
Their input could be helpful and creative if they felt they were being listened to, their needs being met in some way, and the whole issue tackled constructively.
