WORK began this week on a "sensory" garden at Victoria Park, Malvern Link.
Mayor Frances Victory cut the first sod in the construction of the Magdalaine Gardens on Tuesday.
Coun Victory, who has adopted the project as one of her causes, was presented with a posy by three-year-old Magdalaine Owens, granddaughter of Viv Owens of Malvern Access Group.
The garden has been named after Magdalaine because of the inspiration she provided to her grandmother in recovering from disability.
The Co-Op also presented £1,000 to the project. Malvern Access Group has now raised some £13,000 for the first phase of the garden.
