LEDBURY jockey Julian Pritchard wrote his name in the record books on Sunday to become only the second jockey in the sport's history to ride 300 winners between the flags.
Pritchard rode four winners at Sunday's Clifton on Teme meeting at Upper Sapey, near Bromyard.
Dick Baimbridge provided Pritchard with three of the winners, namely Owl Vulgan (Restricted), Teme Willow (Men's Open) and Titus Bramble (Confined), while Mathon's John Rudge sent out Box Car to win the 5, 6 & 7 year old Maiden.
Pritchard used almost identical tactics throughout the afternoon. Setting out to dictate the pace from the start, giving his mounts a breather at half way before quickening the pace again on the downhill run from the 15th. With the exception of Here We Go Barney in the Restricted, none of his rivals were able to get within touching distance of the three times ex-champion.
Stoke Bliss rider Emma James enjoyed a successful weekend by partnering Upton Adventure to a facile win in the Ladies Open at Brampton Bryan on Saturday and she followed up with a victory in the equivalent race at Upper Sapey.
She had Proper Primitive in the front rank throughout this contest and they recovered well from an error at the penultimate to storm away from their rivals on the flat.
Slaves Adventure was a popular winner of the 8 year old and upward Maiden. Jolly Jake and the favourite had the race to themselves from three out but Slaves Adventure proved the strongest turning into the straight and won by three lengths in the colours of his owner/breeder Gwynne Edwards, who lives about a mile from the Upper Sapey course.
