SKY Television cameras paid a visit to the Worcestershire Golf Club to film the club's professional Richard Lewis evaluating golf equipment with several of the club members

Richard was chosen as the performing professional from a consortium of club professionals from the Midlands who make up The Foremost Group. With the help of club members Peter Lupino, David Harding and Chris Hill, Richard carried out the valuation of many different types of wedges in the morning and 'red hot' drivers in the afternoon. The results to be shown on the Sky golf programme later this month.

The club also hosted the junior county match between the boys of Gwent and Worcestershire. In the morning foursomes the Worcestershire boys played well below their capabilities and at lunch Gwent boys led 4 -1 .

The two youngest players in the Worcestershire team, Kevin Barnes and Philip Pugh halved their match and the only winners were Richard Gurney and James Berwick.

The Worcestershire boys obviously enjoyed the club's catering for in the afternoon singles matches they played to their full potential, winning the singles 9 -2 and the match overall 11-7. Again 14-year-old Kevin Barnes performed outstandingly well winning his singles match 7 and 6. Brad Brook of Redditch, winning 7 and 5 and Matthew Pates of Moseley, who won 4 and 3, returned outstanding performances. The host club's junior, Jamie Theakstone, was also a winner beating his opponent one up.

In the April Medal Division One, Martin Lloyd continued with his excellent form returning a net 69 to gain first place. Second-placed Stephen Lane also returned a net 69 but had a worse back nine score. Dave Thomas was third with a net score of 71.

Excellent scores were returned in Division Two. Chris Mason returned a net 69, but had to be content with fourth place. Graham Hill and Brian Rose both returned net 68s, but Brian was placed second and Graham third on count back. The winner with the best score of the day, was John Williams, who returned a net score of 66.

The scores in Division Three were disappointing. Jerry Hibbert was third with a net 75. Nick Kelly was second also with a net 75. The winner was Euan McClelland who returned a net 72.

The ladies of the club's Bronze Division competed in The Australian Spoons national pairs competition. The winners were Eileen Hunt and Janet Strain, who will now go forward to represent the club in the regional finals. Runners up were Zena Lloyd and Ann Read.
