MICHAEL O'Riordan, the Acute Trust's Chairman, claimed (Evening News, Thursday, April 17) that the new hospital's car park size had been limited by planning guidelines.
If he's referring to revised Planning Policy Guidance 13 as yet still in draft form, it proposes a change in how the required number of parking spaces should be calculated for commercial and leisure land development from the minimum to the maximum.
However, hospitals are exempt. He may check this with the County's Transport and Road Safety section. If not, he needs to explain what planning limitations he does refer to.
