THERE was a good turnout for the second round of the Malvern United Angling Association's spring league last Sunday.
Competitors however found the club's pool at Mathon to be in an unresponsive mood and bites were at a premium.
Going one better than his runners up spot in the first round was match secretary Ian Goddard. Drawn on peg three close to the island, Ian must have fancied his chances of a good catch, but it wasn't to be as the peg yielded only one carp taken on corn and leger tactics. It weighed 2-12-0 and was enough to win on the day.
In second place was a newcomer to the match scene, Pete Fidoe who drew peg 13 at the opposite end of the lake. Pete landed one carp for 2-10-0.
Third spot went to Rhona Busby who managed to winkle out 0-12-0 of small fish from peg 19.
The spring league now switches to Wednesday evenings with the next round being on Wednesday (May 7). Draw is at 6pm at Mathon pool.
