ANOTHER weekend's frustration saw the Nomads season continue its' damp start.
A late call from Romsley on Saturday lunchtime saw the 1st XI fixture cancelled, and both Sunday's home fixture to Hatherley & Reddings and away to Stanway were victims of the weather.
In the only surviving fixture, Nomads Seconds began their defence of the divisional title against visiting Romsley Seconds.
Without opener Bray, who made an impressive 66, completing his 50 with the score on only 57, and 16-year-old Beaumont, who showed restraint and excellent technique under pressure, Romsley could easily have been embarrassed.
Bray was eventually out to a sparkling catch from Barney Akhtar as another all-round performance from the Nomads bowlers proved too much for the visitors. Beaumont was unbeaten on 36 as the side crumbled to 118, with six players registering ducks.
With one eye on the weather Nomads decided to end the game as quickly as possible. Akhtar (29) and Williams (28) were particularly aggressive as the clouds gathered. All four wickets fell to Stevens, but for an expensive 76 from 14.3 overs as Pearson (36no) and Finbow guided Nomads home to a comfortable six wicket victory.
