PETER Luff wrote to Central Trains boss Nick Brown this week to ask him to meet frustrated commuters.

But he did not opt for the traditional envelope. He instead sent his request in a greetings card.

Showing a picture of a train, a spoof front page read: "Shock as train arrives on time."

The card had a passenger moaning: "I'm not chuffed - I had to apologise for being on time."

Peter wrote inside the card: "I saw this when I was canvassing in Droitwich on Saturday... and thought of you!"

Where's our cash?

PETER Luff has been up to mischief, altering a protest against local Government grants made by two Essex MPs.

Bob Spink and David Amess put down an Early Day Motion attacking the Government's new funding formula.

The MPs' EDM said the "deplorable" policy had shifted funds from the South to the "Midlands and the North".

Now an extra line has been added. Inserted by Peter, it reads: "While noting that none of this money has reached Worcestershire."

Bomb dog is praised

BRITISH troops serving in Iraq have won praise for their courage and dignity in Iraq.

But, as Paul Keetch points out, acts of courage were not restricted to those with two legs.

Now the Lib Dem defence spokesman has paid warm tribute to Buster the springer spaniel in a Westminster Early Day Motion.

Buster was the only explosives dog working in Iraq and helped to save lives, Paul says.
