THE death of Herefordshire heroin addict Rachel Whitear is to be reviewed by police after her parents expressed their concerns.
The nation was shocked to see pictures of 21-year-old Rachel dead with a syringe in her hand three years ago.
She was found dead in a flat in Exmouth by her landlord, two days after seeing her ex-boyfriend.
"Following concerns raised by the family there will be a review of the investigation, headed by a Det Chief Supt," said Assistant Chief Constable Steve Pearce, of Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.
"Until the review is compete it is inappropriate to comment further."
Rachel's step-father, Michael Holcroft, of Ledbury, told the Evening News today that he had not been approached yet for Rachael's body to be exhumed.
"We felt Rachael had not died alone," said Mr Holcroft.
Mr Holcroft and his wife Pauline have toured the country giving talks to pupils about their daughter and her heroin addiction.
