AN investigation into the death of a man on police bail is to be supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Authority.
The man, who was found dead at Avon Road, Tolladine, Worcester, at 2pm on Friday, had been arrested in connection with an allegation of assault at 7.45pm on Thursday and taken to Worcester Police Station.
Shortly afterwards, he was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital accident and emergency department by officers.
They were concerned for his welfare as a result of information he confided to them.
After being released by police on bail he was taken to his home address the following day at 12.30pm.
West Mercia police voluntarily referred the death to the Police Complaints Authority to supervise the inquiry.
A West Mercia spokesman said no more details could be revealed until after a post-mortem, but the man's identity would be released after his next of kin had been informed.
