BANK holiday revellers reached new dizzy heights when a climbing wall became the star attraction at a fete at Kempsey Primary School.
The fete was held by 6th Worcester (Kempsey) Scout Group yesterday, and attracted around 500 people, more than twice the number of people than last year.
A cake stall, a white elephant stall and The Droitwich Young Firefighters' fire engine rides were just some of the other attractions on offer.
"The wall was six metres high," said Betty West, treasurer of the fete committee and the Scout group. "Those aged three years old to 33 went on it and lots of girls did, too.
"Plenty of dads had a go but not many mums did."
The wall, which offered easy and difficult climbs for all ages, was supervised by three qualified instructors, and all participants wore a helmet and a harness.
"We raised £1,500 for camping equipment for the Scouts," said Mrs West.
"I'd like to say thank you to all the people that came and supported us and all those who helped out and donated to the fete."
6th Worcester (Kempsey) Scout Group consists of Cub Scouts and Beaver Scouts, but the older Scout group is not running at the moment because of the lack of a leader.
Anyone wishing to become a Scout leader should contact Mrs West on 01905 820537 or Simon Bott on 01905 821831.
