NORTH Midlands were frustrated by rain as the second day of the Kinsale Sevens tournament was washed out by heavy rain.
North Midlands, captained by Worcester's former Scotland and British lions fly-half Craig Chalmers, won all three of their games on the opening day without conceding a point. They beat invitation side Zeus 43-0, Bantry Bay 39-0 and Limerick Falcons 47-0.
They were due to enter the play-offs on the second day but two days of heavy rain left the pitches under water and the tournament was abandoned.
North Midlands hoped to use the Kinsale event as a warm-up to the County Sevens qualifying tournament at Broadstreet on May 18.
