The scheme to replace Studley Fire Station - said to be over 100 years old - by the erection of a new one may be unavoidably delayed because the Home Office has written to say that the total estimated cost of the programmes for 1953-54 submitted by the fire authorities is in excess of the capital available for building works and it has been necessary to make considerable reductions in many of the programmes, it is reported by Warwickshire County Council's Fire Brigade Committee.
In view of the urgency of the Studley project, the committee is to recommend the county council to apply for the approval of the secretary of State to be allowed to go ahead with the first stage at Studley, the site of which is already owned by the council on the understanding that the total expenditure incurred in respect of this scheme together with the first stage of the Kineton scheme does not exceed £5,200 during the ensuing financial year.
