A teenage drug addict who burgled a house and stole a purse has been given 15 months' detention.
Donna Barrett got in through an open window while the occupier was upstairs.
The purse contained £80, a driving licence and credit cards.
A wet footprint found in the property matched her trainers, Worcester Crown Court heard.
Barrett, 18, also stole perfume worth more than £100 from a shop and four packets of razor blades from another.
While held at Redditch Police Station, she vandalised a door.
Barrett, of Granhill Close, Greenlands, pleaded guilty to burglary, shoplifting and criminal damage.
She had been given a chance by Judge Michael Mott to be assessed for a drug treatment and testing order.
But she left a bail hostel before the assessment was completed because she was worried over the break-up of her parents' marriage, said Tim Sapwell, defending.
Barrett sent a letter to the judge saying she was sorry for letting him down.
She broke into the house in Greenlands Road on November 12, said John Edwards, prosecuting.
A month later she stole perfume from Debenhams in Redditch but was detained by security staff.
She went into Superdrug in Bromsgrove on January 29 with another woman. Security cameras followed them to a car, which was searched.
Under the passenger seat was found seven packs of razor blades and Barrett admitted taking four of them.
Barrett had been introduced to heroin by her brother, said Mr Sapwell, but was now drug-free after therapy in custody.
She was an intelligent young woman who in years to come could look back on her criminal record in disbelief.
Judge Mott said the court had tried to give her an opportunity to stay ouside the prison walls. Now it was up to her to decide which direction to go in.
