High Society
Studley Operatic Society
Palace Theatre, Redditch
A feel-good show, full of wonderful Cole Porter songs, it was visually impressive and very enjoyable.
Penny Hoy played the part of Tracy 'Sam' Lord. This was her first principal role for the society and on the opening night, she became more assured as the show went on.
The role of CK Dexter Haven was played very well by Julian Bissell and their duet True Love was one of the highlights of the show.
The multi-talented Kevin Hirons, who was also the production's director, played the part of reporter Mike Connor and Liz Bird was photographer Liz Imbrie. They were both excellent and their performances added to the show a great deal.
Tracy's younger and wiser sister, Dinah, was played by Rachael Finch and she can be very happy with her contribution, I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more of her in future productions.
And Uncle Willie, played by Lou Dilke, played the part with great enthusiasm.
