THERE is a new and enthusiastic figure helping the fight against crime in Droitwich Spa.
Wychavon, which includes the Spa, has a new geographical commander - Inspector Steve Brooker.
The top cop has swapped a divisional planning and performance role at South Worcestershire Divisional Headquarters to take on responsibility for Droitwich, Evesham, Broadway and Pershore.
Following recent boundary realignments, he will be working closely with local authorities to ensure community safety aims are being met.
He told the Advertiser: "I'm looking forward to working closely with all communities within Wychavon.
"My priorities are to strive towards providing the public with a quality service and to reduce the fear of crime for all those who live and work in the area."
A West Mercia officer for 24 years, Insp Brooker has worked in Worcester, Kidderminster, Hereford and at the Hindlip force headquarters.
He spent four years teaching at the National Police Training Centre in Cwmbran and was geographic commander of Malvern for five years.
