A CAMPAIGN to see a disgraced Barnt Green doctor struck off has moved forward after an influx of phone calls from concerned women.
Women Fighting for Faith has received calls from as far as away as Scotland from women worried that they too have suffered at the hands of consultant gynaecologist Andrew Gbinigie.
Nicola Evans, of Kingswinford - who is heading the campaign, said: "We have had a call from a woman in Perth, Scotland, who believes she had trouble with Dr Gbinigie dating back to 1990."
The group, which has already attracted interest from more than 25 West Midlands women, wants to see the doctor struck off the medical register.
In February the General Medical Council (GMC) found Dr Gbinigie guilty of serious professional misconduct
The council heard how the doctor had left a 21-year-old woman in need of life-saving surgery after bungling an abortion while working at a Birmingham clinic. But they deemed him fit to continue practise.
The group has enlisted the help of top solicitors Alexander Harris to reopen an investigation into the doctor.
However, the group is still urging Bromsgrove women to come forward if they are concerned about any dealings they have had with Dr Gbinigie, who is registered at Mearse Lane, Barnt Green.
Nicola continued: "Women may wish to talk to someone in confidence who has been through a similar experience - if that is the case, they can call me any time."
