THERE was major drama at Alvechurch ward's count for the Bromsgrove Council elections.
After a recount, Conservative candidate June Griffiths fainted and needed medical assistance from a doctor before the ward's results, the last to be announced, were revealed at about 12.45am.
Mrs Griffiths managed to regain consciousness and her seat with 824 votes.
Independent candidate for Alvechurch ward Jean Luck, who resigned her lifelong membership to the Conservative party just weeks ago, also won her seat back with 808 votes.
Conservative candidate Roger Hollingworth polled the most votes for the ward with 935.
In the Tardebigge ward, Conservative candidate Peter Whittaker was reinstated with 405 votes.
Four out of the five seats for the three hotly contested Wythall wards went the way of the Wythall Ratepayers and Residents Association (WRRA).
In the Drakes Cross and Walkers Heath ward, Geoff Denaro (WRRA) grabbed the most votes with 554 and Conservative candidate Jill Dyer took the second seat with 512 votes.
Two WRRA candidates took the Hollywood and Majors Green ward. Wythall Parish Council chairman Sue Baxter polled the most with 658 and Stephen Peters took the second seat with 624.
The one seat for Wythall South went to John Gardener, of WRRA, with 433 votes.
The Conservative Party holds overall control of Bromsgrove Council after losing just one seat.
The Labour party gained one seat as did the Residents Association but the Independents lost one seat.
