NEW College could produce the next Jamie Oliver after five students reached the heat finals of a prestigious catering competition.
Duncan Oldacres, Scott Emes and Peter Bradbury, from Redditch, Sonia Radcliffe, from Frankley, and Matthew Bratt, from Bromsgrove, will be fighting to place the college firmly on the culinary map when they compete at the Nestle Toque d'Or 2003 regional heat finals in Blackpool tomorrow.
The 19-year-old students, who will compete as one of four teams, submitted details of their designs for a restaurant and designed a starter, main course and dessert which they will turn into reality in a cook-off competition watched by industry experts.
They have also been asked to explain how they could adapt their main course for the airline and healthcare industries.
If the team is successful, they will be asked to recreate their culinary masterpieces at the grand final at the Daily Telegraph House and Gardens Fair.
