THE annual show was held on April 19. The visiting society displays were outstanding and the potting demonstration was greatly enjoyed.
The classes were well supported with a total of 75 entries. The winners were as follows:
The Society Cup for the most points in show, Janet James; the Challenge Cup for best group display, Ziggy Urdzins; the Founders Shield for best grown orchid, Fred Smith.
The Bedlam Trophy for the best Monopodial, Brian Cope; the Durrant Cup for the best Cattleya, Fred Smith; the G R Harris Cup for the best Pleurothallid, Brian Cope; the Gloria Cotton Cup for the best Mini Cymbidium, Fred Smith.
The S A Jarrett Cup for the best Odontoglossum, Mike Harris; the Margaret Turton Cup for the best Phalaenopsis, Fred Smith; the Trevor Turton Cup for the best Paphiopedium, Stan Taylor; the Dendrobium Trophy for the best Dendrobium, Stan Taylor.
The Vanderville Trophy for the best species, Stan Taylor; the Shirley Goblet for the best Cymbidium, Janet James; the Harry Wilshaw Goblet novice class; Gillian Prosser.
The Peter White Trophy for the best Pleurothallid, Janet James; for the most points awarded in monthly table shows, the Bedlam Trophy for hybrids, Fred and Joan Smith; the Committee Trophy for species, Ziggy Urdzins.
