PARISH COUNCIL: Severn Waste - Hill and Moor Landfill Site: District coun M Argyle said following the recent high winds, he had photographs of the rubbish strewn across the fields which he would be taking to the next liaison meeting.
Coun J Timms advises the parish council to support option 5a for Municipal Solid Waste and option two for Construction and Demolition and Commercial and Industrial sites. Firstly, it puts the onus on Herefordshire to contribute to its own waste disposal. Apart from that, it is the least kilometres travelled, takes up less ground, does less harm to the ozone level and is the lowest landfill requirement. Page 3 of the leaflet indicates the sites for thermal treatment should be in Central Worcestershire and Herefordshire. This ties in with a note in the inspector's report on the Kidderminster incinerator which, if interpreted correctly, indicates Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich as possible sites.
New housing estate matters: Coun J Timms is still concerned about the willow trimmings which are obstructing the ditch near the brook. It may well be that at present they are not restricting the flow but the debris brought down by flood water will soon block the gaps and form a solid dam when combined with the twigs already there. Hence the reluctance of drainage engineers to fit grids at the entrances to the culverts. It cannot be too strongly emphasised that there is very little fall from George Lane to the Piddle Brook.
Simms & Woods: WDC had supported the enforcement officer's request for action to be taken on the commercial use of an agricultural building.
Traffic Forum: Coun Mrs P Swanborough had attended the last meeting on March 18. The Traffic Forum is a group that meets every two months. There were representatives from the east of Evesham and to have any impact, far more villages west of Evesham ought to send representatives to these meetings.
Age Concern: Coun Mrs P Swanborough said Age Concern was working in Pershore, tel. 01386 555744, and has a handyperson/gardening scheme.
Next meeting - Thursday, May 15.
