I would like to correct an inaccuracy in last week's article on our organisation's application to the Lottery Fund. Unfortunately, it was reported that we were a "housing association ". Far from it ! We are the Evesham Sheltered Housing Tenants' Association. The inclusion of the word "Tenants" makes quite a difference.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Mayor, Cllr Smith, the Local Authorities, the Police, and EPHA for their support to date. This support has not simply been vocal, but also practical. The response to our plans has been marvellous, notwithstanding a few (2 or 3) negative opinions. Sadly, the whingers invariably voice their views from a position of ignorance. Let them employ their energies and initiative in discovering the facts and assisting their peers, some of whom are less fortunate than them. The Association is simply helping the sheltered residents to help themselves, and hopefully make a difference to their quality of life.
We know that all our members are looking forward to a Community Garden and our plans for increased parking at Charles Close will also satisfy a long standing need. GERRY BAKER, Evesham Sheltered Housing Tenants Association.
