JUDO: Well-travelled Greg Oertel headed from one end of England to the other over the weekend to win golds at both events.
The Samurai Judo Club star made a great impression at the Willesden Open in London on Saturday and the Durham Open the following day.
Kate Walker and Ryan Pitcock added further golds during the weekend for the Kidderminster club.
Oertel looked on top form at the Willesden Open which attracts the best teams from London and the south of England.
Four superb maximum-point victories from a variety of throws took him into the final where another excellent move gained him the gold against a tough opponent.
His younger sister Amy also made her way into the final but lost to a good player and had to settle for silver.
Another brother-and-sister team, light-middleweight Samantha and light heavyweight Gary Jones, both excelled to win six contests between them and a bronze each after only just moving into the higher leagues of competition.
International Walker won a bronze with ease after losing out to her main rival who she fought in the British Championships final.
Jack Roberts added another bronze in the lightweights and Tom Walker finished fifth.
Ben Newbury put in an excellent display with four stylish victories, including beating one of the top Russian players present, and was unlucky to finish fifth.
On Sunday, the squad went to the Durham Open and G Oertel was soon securing his second gold medal of the weekend despite some tough matches.
A Oertel also reached her final after three good wins but lost to a player she had beaten earlier on.
K Walker faced a tough category of national and international players but they fell to her combination of good throwing techniques and strong groundwork.
Three excellent wins took her into the final and a rematch with her rival but this time she dominated the contest and was able to collect gold.
Determined Pitcock added a third gold, his first for Samurai and a deserved one, while his sister Kerrie did well to hang on for a bronze.
David Hadley took home a bronze but T Walker's bad luck continued when he finished fifth again.
