BASKETBALL: Airedale Kidderminster Cobras clinched their first away win at Cannock Chase Panthers since the two clubs joined the West Midlands Premier League.
Cobras triumphed 64-58 to increase their unbeaten run to seven games after a fabulous first-quarter display gave them an 11-point lead.
Mark Bonshor and Mark Davis put them four ahead in just 30 seconds before the strength of Ian Marriott and speed of Matt Law paid dividends.
Two three-pointers from Roy Francis and one from Andy Sharp left coach Terry Cash delighted with the first 10 minutes.
Although Cobras marched 16 points ahead, they seemed to ease off the gas and Chase cut the deficit to seven by half-time.
It was quickly down to four in the third quarter but Kidderminster surged forward again with Law hitting eight of 10 points in a row.
Cobras produced another blitz in the early stages of the fourth quarter to lead 58-40 with just six minutes left.
Chase narrowed the deficit but Cobras triumphed with top point scorers being Marriott (20), Law (15), Bonshor (8) and Francis (7).
