ROWING: Stourport Boat Club burst on to the sprint scene over the weekend with five wins at Evesham Regatta.
The campaign started well on Saturday when the senior two coxed four of Chris Bird, Mark Philips, Ian Price and Jeremy Stubbs eased through their heats to beat Evesham in the final.
Price now moves out of novice status and gains his first rowing point.
Siobhan Adams was the shining star on Sunday, dispatching a strong field to win her novice pot in the women's single sculls event.
Solid work by Smokey Hart secured pots in both the vet B and the vet C single sculls, while Tim Haywood and Paul Danby put in measured performances to take the senior three pair title.
In the inter-regional regatta on Monday, Stourport juniors represented the West Midlands in Nottingham.
Jessica Danby made the grand finals in the J14 singles and the J14 doubles with Rebekah Perkins, while Daniel Brighton did likewise in the J14 singles.
They all gained high points towards the region's total score despite just missing out on medal positions.
Ashley Price and Rupert Conway were pipped to a final place in the J16 doubles after battling with atrocious weather conditions but they showed true character to win the Petit final easily.
The seniors and juniors aim to build on their strong start in Shrewsbury at the weekend when a large entry will compete over two days.
