CYCLING: Phil Blacker won his first race of the season for Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club in the British Cycling National Circuit Series for second, third and fourth category riders at Birmingham's NEC.
Blacker achieved the club's best result of the season by beating Matt Manakee, of Glendene CC, in the final sprint over a tight 800m circuit.
Ian Smith was the leading club rider in 22 minutes 20 seconds at the Stourbridge CC 10-mile time trial in Wythall.
Other times: Tony Richardson 23-58, Len Holbeche 24-20, Dave Wood 25-29, and Aiden Collings 27-14.
Stourport's Liam Preece rode strongly in the Newport CC 10-mile time trial at Sambrook to finish 16th out of 67 in 24-13.
Preece was a winner in the fourth round of the Midland Youth time trial series at Bromsgrove the next day.
He was first around the 4.7-mile course in 10 minutes to retain his overall series lead.
Rob Cole battled windy conditions in the Glenneath 25-mile time trial which he completed in one hour 5-16.
A 14-mile time trial on the Astley circuit was entered by 11 club riders and Rob Holbeche was fastest in 37-6.
