VALE Wildlife Rescue Centre has hit the halfway milestone in its campaign to recycle 30,000 aluminium drinks cans.
The project to recycle used drinks cans has helped the centre's fundraising activities, which is essential to the ongoing job of making improvements, maintaining high standards and keeping a healthy environment for the animals.
The recycling scheme looks set for more success now the centre has teamed up with The Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation and is taking part in its fundraising programme, Make Things Happen.
Assistant manager Martin Brookes said: "We are doing very well with our aluminium cans collection. Many people have supported the recycling project and we hope to increase the number of supporters who collect aluminium cans for the centre. By taking part in Alupro's Make Things Happen collection, we can almost double our rewards. Our aim is to make around £500 which will be put to good use and refurbish some of our animal enclosures."
Groups in the Make Things Happen programme receive free environmental vouchers for DIY and garden products as well as the value of the aluminium.
The centre wants to encourage businesses, groups and individuals across Worcestershire to support their ongoing fundraising and believe collecting cans on a regular basis is one way to help.
If there are any businesses or organisations in the area which would like to help, please contact Martin Brookes on 01386 882288.
