AN elderly woman had her handbag snatched as she made her way to her local polling station in Pershore to vote in last week's local elections.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 1.55pm last Thursday.
A youth in a mid-grey coloured hooded top grabbed the bag and, as he ran off, the victim shouted: "He's got my bag."
A young man in a yellow T-shirt gave chase and challenged the thief who dropped the handbag and continued running and climbed a fence in an attempt to escape, heading in the direction of Betjamin Close.
The woman later had the handbag and its contents returned.
PC Bernie Thomas said: "I would very much like to speak to the witness in the yellow T-shirt who very kindly helped this lady.
"He may have some information that will help us catch this thief before he tries something like this again.
"I'm appealing to this man and to anyone who may have witnessed this crime to contact me on 08457 444888 with any information.
