JAZZ lovers are in for a treat when Kidderminster Library hosts an evening of music and comedy.
Swingin' with the Greats promises an evening of swinging jazz music and humorous anecdotes.
Entertainment will be provided by the Simon Deeley Trio and jazz vibraphonist and raconteur John Sparry.
The programme focuses on the work of composers such as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hart, Duke Ellington and Hoagy Carmichael.
Popular numbers will be performed with witty anecdotes about each song and its composer.
The Simon Deeley Trio consists of Simon Deeley on piano, Jim Sutton on bass and Roger Bruton on drums.
Formed in 1996, the trio has found increasing popularity on the Midlands music scene.
A large part of their act centres on popular numbers from the Great American Song Book.
They will share the stage with multi-talented John Sparry, who has had a combined career as a writer/historian, raconteur, wit and jazz musician.
A Black Country celebrity, he has featured on TV and has had several books published.
He has also been the subject of numerous newspaper articles.
He performs regularly with the Heath-Coldfield Quartet, as well as playing alongside other Midlands musicians.
And he has written articles on jazz for the Listener Magazine.
