ELDERLY residents in Worcestershire will soon have a greater say in community services, thanks to a new council initiative.
Better Government for Older People - BGOP - is a partnership designed to ensure that local authorities, health, advisory groups and partnership organisations involved with services and initiatives for older people meet and discuss their policies in the community.
Transport was top of the agenda at the last forum meeting, with information given on the new FlexiLINK buses, which are fitted with low floors to help people with mobility problems to move around Worcester.
"Transport is the number one issue in helping older and vulnerable people live independently," said Jennie Bashford, director of Worcestershire County Council's social services.
"It's just one of the services we will be working with to enable older people to live as independently as they wish."
